NASA BUOYANCY TANK TEST SKYLAB MANEUVERABILITY EXERCISES XD47254

Want to support this channel and help us preserve old films? Visit Visit our website To test designs of new Apollo spacesuits, and to understand the types of tasks that astronauts could perform in low or zero gravity, a large neutral buoyancy tank was employed. This film shows SCUBA divers and a test subject in a spacesuit in the tank, negotiating using handholds on a grid which is made up of hexagons. (Note: the grid is a bit hard to see in the film). Similar grid-like structures were used aboard the Skylab space station. We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment!
