NASA NEUTRAL BUOYANCY TANK ASTRONAUT MOBILITY TESTS (SILENT) XD47094

Want to support this channel and help us preserve old films? Visit Visit our website This silent film from NASA shows subjects in a neutral buoyancy pool, simulating activities in space. At 2:50, a subject walks up a ramp. At 3:55, the person walks up a ramp and is entirely inverted in the pool. Tests such as this one were used to test internal and external structures for spacecraft and the Skylab space station. Notably, Skylab had a filing cabinet arrangement somewhat similar to what is shown here, permitting astronauts to walk (and run) in a vertical loop. Film roll marked “LARA“, we’re not sure what that might stand for. We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment! See something interesting? Tell people what it is and what they can see by writing something for example: “01:00:12:00 -- President Roosevelt is seen meeting with Winston Churchill at the Quebec Conference.“ This film is part of the Periscope Film LLC archive, one of the largest historic military, transportation, and aviation stock footage collections in the USA. Entirely film backed, this material is available for licensing in 24p HD, 2k and 4k. For more information visit
