Full title reads: “Bath. Mr Pickwick’s “Hold Up“ with his party in the family coach & his visit to Bath re-enacted on spot by the Dickens’ Fellowship Conference.“
Bath, North Somerset / Avon.
An old fashioned stage coach / carriage travels along a country road (there is nothing in the shot to suggest what decade it is from).
Two men ride on horses and hold up the carriage with pistols. The carriage comes to a halt.
Men dressed as cavalry soldiers ride along and stop the crime.
The stage coach drives on with the two highway men under guard.
The coach pulls into Bath where people have come out to meet it. (Now we can see the 1930s dress of the crowd.)
The person portraying Mr Pickwick says a few words to the gathered crowd.
N.B. This is mainly a re-enactment of a scene from Charles Dickens’ novel “Pickwick Papers“.
