The production of batteries for electric vehicles is a dangerous business. The reason for this: the high voltage involved in the electrical contacting of battery modules. Together with KOSTAL Kontakt Systeme GmbH and KUKA, Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH has now developed a technology with two KR CYBERTECH nano ARC HW robots that can be used to connect high-voltage battery modules safely and efficiently.
The biggest challenge: handling limp parts such as module connectors. Liebherr’s innovative technology enables two or more robots to work together in perfect harmony. Program and motion are synchronized in real time, so that even complex processes - such as the joining of flexible parts - succeed.
