Water Postman (1964)

Poole, Dorset. Various shots of a postman putting letters through a letter box and picking up some bottles of milk. This postman - Alan Marsh - delivers bread, milk and newspapers to various islands in Poole Harbour. We see him walk to his boat with the post and milk. He became water postman number 696 when he was just 18. Various shots of Alan aboard his small boat travelling to different islands. Brownsea Island is the first stop, Alan delivers some mail to the head boatman Barry Guest. Alan clears the island letterbox. Alan delivers a newspaper to a woman island inhabitant. Tom Bailey, the warden of Furzey Island comes to meet him by boat. Letters are exchanged. Ted Foster waits for the postman on the pier of Round Island. Alan puts his feet up on the journey home.
