GAME RECAP: Penguins at Blue Jackets () | Crosby Gets 13th Career Hat Trick

Tuesday night, the Columbus Blue Jackets hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins for the first of four match-ups this season. Sidney Crosby didn’t wait long to get the scoring started. A shot from the point by Kris Letang went wide and bounced out in front of the net. Marcus Pettersson tapped it towards Crosby on the goal line, who ripped the puck in from a low angle. With that goal, Crosby extended his point streak to nine games. Later in the period, Kirill Marchenko evened the score at 1-1 for Columbus. With 30 seconds left in the 1st, Yegor Chinakhov gave Columbus the lead, 2-1. The beginning of the 2nd saw Pittsburgh kill off two penalties successfully. Using that momentum, Crosby picked up a loose puck in the corner and dished it out front. Vinnie Hinostroza redirected it to Jake Guentzel, who got the goal. The 2nd period ended tied 2-2. Halfway through the 3rd, Erik Karlsson blasted a slap shot from the point past the Columbus goaltender to take the lead. Minutes later, Alexandre Texier tied the game once again.
