GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Lightning () | Malkin Nets Two In 2nd

Saturday afternoon, the Pittsburgh Penguins hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning. With plenty of motivation, the Penguins came on fast and with a purpose. After poking the puck away from the Lightning in the Penguins zone, Bryan Rust collected the puck and skated up the ice with Crosby for a 2v1. Rust held onto it, forcing the defender to go long body and freeze the goalie. Seeing a narrow path, Rust passed the puck perfectly to Sidney Crosby on the backdoor for an easy tap-in to start the scoring. The 1st period ended with a single goal for the Penguins. Evgeni Malkin scored a goal of his own, tipping Erik Karlsson’s shot from the point to start the 2nd period. Tampa Bay responded to Pittsburgh with their first goal of the afternoon. The Penguins kept battling and scored two more goals before the period was over. Kris Letang and Malkin lead the charge to add to their lead making the sore 4-1 to end the 2nd. The Lightning were not done yet. Scoring three unanswered goals in the 3rd period to tie the game late. Maki
