1961 Tonka State Hi Way Department Mobile Clam Crane Truck Restoration

I purchased this 1961 Tonka State Highway Department Mobile Clam Crane Truck from a local antique store about a half hour from where I live. It was in terrible shape and overall desperately needed restoration. Everything was there minus the clam release that goes on the very top of the boom, which I fabricated on my CNC mill. The entire truck was covered in rust, flaking paint, and corrosion. The windshield was broken, the crane rope was all tangled up and weathered, one of the two out riggers was snapped off and just wired onto the toy to keep with it. I was super excited to work on this one, although it was a larger project than normal. The part that I made on my new mill is actually the first successful part that I made on it. I’ve got a ton of learning to do in order to use the CNC to it’s full potential, but it should make for some interesting future videos.
