Advanced Forearm Stand Workout

Athletes smile when I hand out forearm stands and athletes laugh when I tell them to buckle up as forearm stands are hard work. Have you actually trained them tho? I’ve been able to OAHS, HSPU, Planche and Stadler Press for well over 10 years. I would say it is save to say that I am pretty comfortable on my hands. Yet, forearm stands leave me sore and tired? Why is that? Well, couple of reasons. For one bodyweight strength is highly specific. I am very experience with handstands so I can carry through but I don’t have nearly the same amount of specific training on my forearms as I have on my hands. Moving from the hands to the elbows means less leverage. You are closer to the floor which means if your shoulders travel the angle in them changes more drastically even when traveling distance stays the same.
