VIRGIL’S PURGATORY (2023) ZX Spectrum

Virgil’s Purgatory is a metroidvania platform game, the gameplay mixes elements of the history of the Brazilian “Cangaço“, its popular “cordel literature“, and the Divine Comedy of Dante Alighieri. This story has a bad ending with the leader of the of “cangaço“ folk losing his head, but in this game you have the opportunity for taking revenge and get your head back. Virgil is trapped in his own Purgatory, and now he must search for his lost head to fulfill his destiny, but for a start he finds another replacement for his head. This cow replacement skull can also be used as a weapon, but when you throw the skull after an enemy you have to pick it up again. The game is designed to have an open world, and you have to wanderer trough the entire Purgatory to find six artifacts, face four bosses, get new skills and gain access to new areas in this Purgatory, that is visually inspired by the art of Woodcuts.
