Labour demand answers about allegations of MP Mark Menzies misuse of campaign funds

The Labour Party’s shadow Leader of the House of Commons Lucy Powell demanded answers from Penny Mordaunt MP in the House of Commons after Fylde MP Mark Menzies lost the Conservative whip and was suspended as one of Rishi Sunak’s trade envoys. (18 April 2024) This followed a publishing by The Times which claimed that he had used political donations to cover medical expenses and pay off “bad people” who had locked him in a flat and demanded thousands of pounds for his release. Mr Menzies disputes the allegations, and the Conservative Party has said it is looking into the claims and takes them seriously.
