Since Jeremy Corbyn was ousted from the Labour Party leadership in the U.K., he and the successor leaders like Kier Starmer have been at odds, to put it mildly. Now Starmer is demanding that Corbyn not be allowed to run for his seat in Parliament under the Labour banner, and in response Corbyn has thumbed his nose at Starmer and annouced he will be running for reelection, but as an independent.
