GAME RECAP: Penguins at Kings () | California Dreamin’

Entering tonight, the Penguins were looking for the franchise’s second all-time perfect California road trip. Sidney Crosby’s wraparound backhand midway through the opening period got things started. Crosby is now on a seven-game point streak (4G-5A). Grundstrom answered back with a shorthanded goal later in the period. The 2nd period saw the Kings take their first lead of the night off a tally from Kempe. Lars Eller restored the tie with a shorthanded marker of his own, poking the puck off an LA stick in the neutral zone, making a nice move, and then wiring the puck top shelf. With the game tied, 2-2, entering the 3rd period, Jake Guentzel earned his fifth of the season, completing a beautiful sequence from Karlsson, to Crosby, and then to Guentzel. Fiala knotted things up again for the Kings, and this game was destined for overtime.
