Hallgrim Hansegård - Halling - Norwegian folk dance
Hallgrim Hansegård dances laus or so-called halling at Landskappleiken 2022. Norwegian folk dance is reknown for its improvisation, regional and personal differences. Since the 1600’s the acrobatic halling style has developed into a highly artistic discipline and for instance the headspin was part of the dance more then 100 years ago!
The most famous move, though, might be the “rundkast“ where the dancer kicks the hat from a stick. They used to kick shelves, ceilings or branches, but kicking hat became a popular game in the military dances in early 1800’s.
The tune “Kjæringe i snødrevè“ is performed on Hardanger fiddle by Jan Beitohaugen Granli. The hat is hold by Sikia Heien.
