Nepal: Police honour dogs for contribution to ’crime investigation’ on holy day
Nepalese police officers celebrated the second day of the ’Yama Panchak’ festival devoted to the god of death, at the Central Police Dog Training Centre in Kathmandu, Friday. The second day of the event is called ’Kukur Tihar’ when dogs are worshipped as protectors of the home.
Officers decorated the dogs with vermillion powder and garlands of flowers. They also treated the dogs to delicious food. According to the Superintendent Dr Deuti Gurung the day celebrates the dogs, “for their service for their loyalties, for their dedication, for crime investigation in Nepal.“
