Shaolin Qigong 13 Luohan Movements Form (HD)

I do not own the music in this video, copyrighted by the rightful owners. I came across the 13 Luohan qigong during a time of severe illness and passing away of my younger brother who I grew up with in Singapore. Observing the movements I intuitively felt that this was the form that my system needed to cope with, balance and heal the strong emotions going through my heart, mind and body. It is a Buddhist practice to share merit with departed relatives. If, in any way the sharing of this film benefits another human being, I pray that the merit, coming forth from such a deed, be bestowed upon my departed brother. “Bhavatu sabba-maṅgalaṃ Rakkhantu sabba-devatā Sabba-buddhānubhāvena Sadā sotthī bhavantu te May there be every blessing. May all heavenly beings protect you. Through the power of all the Buddhas, may you always be well.“ Luohan quan (Chinese: 罗汉拳 Luóhànquán), which means “Arhat fist“, is a general name for the styles of Chinese martial arts that are named after the Arhats, the Enlightened Ones. Luohan style is the oldest and the representative style of Shaolin Kung Fu. The original roots of Luohan style date back to the early eras of the Shaolin Temple. The first Shaolin Temple (of Denfeng) dates back to 494 AD. The heyday period of the Shaolin Temple was during the early Tang dynasty (618-907 AD). A „Luohan“ (Arhat) is regarded as the original follower of Gautama Buddha. He who has followed the Noble Eightfold Path and has reached the state of Nibbana, has become free of craving and ignorance and is no longer subject to rebirth and kamma. Shaolin Luohan Style Qigong is a set of 13 movements that was developed by Shaolin Monks, after contemplating and imitating different forms and expressions of Luohan statues in the monastery. It belongs to the classic repertoire of Qigong exercises in the Shaolin Arts around the globe. In comparison to the two previous Shaolin style qigong films in my playlist (the 8 brocades ‘Ba Duan Jin’ and the Muscle and Tendon Transformation Excercises ‘Yi Jin Jing’), the movements in this set can also be applied for martial application. All three qigong sets develop a strong foundation to remain powerfully calm and aware. It is recommended to start with the Ba Duan Jin, followed by the Yi Jin Jing and then the 13 Luohan.
