This week, Chairman Omali Yeshitela discusses his new book, The Verdict Is In: Reparations Now! and takes your questions. The book documents the First World Tribunal on Reparations for African People in the U.S., organized by the African People’s Socialist Party and held in Brooklyn, New York in 1982. This historic hearing used international law to put the U.S. government on trial for genocide against African people. The Panel of Judges ruled that the U.S. owed $4.1 trillion in reparations to African people. Chairman Omali Yeshitela served as the People’s Advocate presiding over the proceedings. This historic book, records his statements and the testimonies of African workers, academics and experts.
