Biden cautions against operation in Rafah without ensuring safety of people sheltered there

President Joe Biden has publicly encouraged Israel to tone down its offensive in Gaza, and he has called the country’s Prime Minister, asking him to hold off on a potential military operation in Rafah, while stressing that ensuring the safety of more than a million refugees should be drawn up first. However, Washington’s message seems to be somewhat mixed. In contrast, the National Security Council spokesperson says there will absolutely be no reduction in support for Israel’s offensive in Gaza.
