📃 Оригинальное описание:
Queens is the largest NYC borough at 178 square miles. It is the second most populated (behind Brooklyn) with million inhabitants. It is the most diverse community in the world as 48% of its inhabitants are foreign born.
While established in 1682 as one of the original 12 counties, it officially joined the other four boroughs to become what is now greater New York City in 1898. While only the second largest GDP of the five boroughs, Queens boasts the most diversified portfolio of earnings. It is home to the headquarters of many major corporations, such as Bulova (watches), Steinway & Sons (pianos), Glacéau (Vitamin Water), and Jet Blue (airline).
Both of NYC’s major airports call Queens home, with La Guardia International in the north and JFK International in the south. The best tennis players in the world compete in the US Open each year at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center within the Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in east Queens. Also within this park, each night more than 10,000 people sample food from the Queens Night Market. Nearby, American icon baseball team, The Mets, play at Citi Field.
Finally, the southern-most portion of Queens is Rockaway. It is truly a different world from the rest of NYC. It’s pristine, calm and large-park-oriented. The beaches are so beautiful and the free sports facilities, playgrounds and restaurants that line the Rockaway Beach Boardwalk make for an amazing day of relaxation and play.
