One of the most popular symphonies in classical music, the Fifth Symphony is widely regarded as one of the cornerstones of western music. This symphony is considered one of the most important works of the time. A four-note motif from the opening of this symphony is widely known throughout popular culture. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 also had a specific name besides its numbering, like his Eroica (heroic) and Pastorale (rural).
