A Fisherman’s Paradise (1925)

Shot in the district of Lake Nipigon in Ontario, Canada. A man stands and fishes by a waterfall. “The Prince had great sport here on his tour. A fine catch.“ C/U of fish displayed artistically falling out of a basket. Various types of fishing are shown - “gill“ netting - nets are pulled in which have caught fish at regular intervals. We see the revolving drum which hauls the fish in. Top shot of the fishermen pulling fish from the nets. Seagulls fly close to the boat. Another method shown is “pound“ fishing. M/S of four fishermen in small boat pulling in a pound net. C/U of the net being pulled into the boat. C/U of the fish thrashing around. Various shots of the fish struggling in the net. The men scoop them out of the net into the boat. One fish is described as a “conscientious objector“ as the fisherman struggles to lift it out of the net.
