The wonderful comedian Tommy Handley (Mr Winterbottom) is seen sitting on a bench in a park (studio set), wearing a flat cap, false moustache, white gloves and smoking a cigar. Ronald Frankau (Mr Murgatroyd), also in false moustache plus bowler hat and fur mittens, enters and sits beside him. The pair engage in some quick-fire crosstalk, with the puns and double-entendres flying thick and fast - very funny.
They discuss various topics, including baths and washing (“Do you find it difficult to wash the small part between the shoulder blades?“ “Soapless! I’ve given up the attempt“ “Really? I’ve thrown up the sponge too“ “Well, I’ve never tried that way“), furniture, cricket, the countryside, trees (“Do you like chestnuts?“ “I’m mad about this act!“), pubs and alcohol, world affairs and farmers.
