On October 1999, the world-renowned anti-Apartheid leader, Nelson Mandela, embarked on a historic journey to the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, leaving an indelible mark on the shared struggle for justice between Palestine and South Africa. Today, we look into Mandela’s long standing comradery with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, and the significance of his visit to Al-Shati Refugee Camp in Gaza, which is currently under the control of Israeli forces in the midst of Israel’s offensive on the besieged enclave since the 7th of October.
