Clockwork Automaton by Gustave Vichy of Paris circa 1890. A finely sculpted papier mache figure based on the proud handsome Dahomean Minstrels seen on the streets and in cafes of Paris in the 19th century. The mechanism and music is contained within the body. 75cm tall.
