Tablet Weaving: Graphing and Weaving Letters

Linda Hendrickson talks about graphing and weaving the capital letters for Gill Sans, and weaves a name badge in double-faced tablet weaving, Graphs for the lower case letters for Gill Sans are included in Linda’s book “Please Weave a Message: Instructions and Graphs for Tablet-Woven Calligraphy“. The book also includes graphs for five other historic scripts and fonts: Uncial, Textura Quadrata, Humanist Bookhand, Italic, and Legend. You can see pangrams that Linda wove to illustrate each of these in Linda’s YouTube video, Tablet Weaving: Pangram Bands from “Please Weave a Message“. You can see additional photos of tablet-woven calligraphy in the Tablet Weaving Gallery on Linda’s website, , where you can also order tablet weaving books and supplies. The structure used to weave these bands is known as the double-faced weave, or more technically, 3-span warp floats in alternate alignment. Subscribe to my channel
