50,000 Kiddies’ Happy Voices - Sound Version (1932)
Full title reads: “Rushmoor Arena. 50,000 Kiddies’ happy voices almost drown ’noise of battle’ and the massed bands at first dress rehearsal of this year’s ’better-than-ever’ Aldershot Tattoo.“
Aldershot, Hampshire.
Quick shot of Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) and Duchess of York (later Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother) walks through crowds.
High angle panning shot across full grandstands and large parade ground of Rushmoor Arena. Massed military bands are playing in the Arena. A great display of drill. Later in the Arena there appears to be some kind of mock battle being fought - clouds of smoke (as if from cannon) rise into the air. Intercut with shots of the stands. Cavalry ride across the Arena as part of the mock fighting. Pan across massed ranks of troops in the Arena - loud cheers can be heard.
(Sound track runs out)
