Testing Safety Belts (1964)

British Standards Institution, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. Various tests are carried out on car seat belts (safety belts). Crash test dummies are used. Various shots of the dummies, the engineers going about their work testing seat belts, C/Us of equipment used etc. A high speed ramp is demonstrated. Narrator explains that 70% of all serious injury could be avoided if safety belts were used. “Maybe this test will convince a few people“ he says as a dummy is propelled along a tunnel at high speed.
