Welcome to the Okefenokee Heritage Center! The OHC is a regional cultural arts center, including an art gallery and history museum, located among 16 acres of beautiful pine trees. Our exhibits include our Founders Hall, Native American, Black Heritage, Sacred Harp, Gram Parsons and Nok terracotta exhibits. Our campus boasts a stationary historic train we fondly call “Okefenokee Chief“. This train includes our historic locomotive called “Old 9“ as well as baggage cars, mail car, passenger car and red caboose. Visitors will enjoy reviewing our rich Railroad history in our historic depot. For newspaper enthusiasts you will find an historic printer located in our Waycross Journal Herald building. A circa 1830 dogtrot home, built by General Thomas Hilliard, including period furniture, is nestled in the back corner of the OHC campus.
