(21:16.1) SMB2-J Warpless 8-4 Speedrun (World Record)

This game has had a lot of advancements recently. This run doesn’t include nearly all of the new strategies/new setups for tricks, but the main thing it does include is a new powerup route in world 1. The splits show I’m 2 seconds behind after 1-1, but that’s because I get the mushroom there and then fireflower in 1-3, instead of mushroom in 1-3 and fireflower in 1-4. This lets you do the wall clip at the start of 1-2, and makes it easier to do 1-3 and 1-4 faster, overall saving 0.7 seconds. My mushroom grab in 1-1 was slow, so I did flagpole glitch in 1-2 as a backup. This run had two mistakes- just two slightly off jumps. One in 6-4 which cost me 0.7, and one in 8-3 which cost me . I was aiming for 21:14, but after the mistakes I ended up tied with the previous world record (21:16.3 by Scalpel) going into 8-4, so I played 8-4 slightly more aggressively than he did and came out 11 frames ahead. Lol. We’ll take it!
