Merkel Urges Conte to Socially Distance After Trump Tests Positive for Covid-19
European Union leaders ended a two-day summit in Brussels on Friday with the usual messages about unity and togetherness - but it’s emerged that during the event Germany’s chancellor told Italy’s prime minister to keep his distance.
However, this was no diplomatic incident - it was simply a matter of coronavirus precautions.
It happened on Thursday when Italian prime minister Giuseppe Conte saw Germany’s chancellor Angela Merkel and went over to greet her with an elbow-bump.
