Coaxial jet excited by DBD plasma actuator

Coaxial jet excited by DBD plasma actuator Bal Krishan Mishra, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur Pradipta Kumar Panigrahi, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur DOI: The presented video illustrates the capability of a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma actuator to excite the coaxial jet flow field. An annular DBD plasma actuator is placed axisymmetric to the coaxial jet arrangement. The plasma is generated perpendicular to the jet stream and the direction of induced flow is radially upward. This induced flow excites the outer shear layer and thus, the outer jet is subjected to azimuthal excitation. The flow visualization is carried out by seeding the outer jet with smoke particles and illuminated by Nd: YAG laser. The visualization has been carried out in both longitudinal and transverse plane at 400 and 2000 frames per second respectively. See other videos from the 2019 Gallery of Fluid Motion:
