Unboxing the HMD Skyline, a 2024 Lumia tribute phone, with a hands-on review of the camera tech, gaming skills and other features. Chris even rips the arse off of the HMD Skyline to show how you can repair various components, including that battery!
This is one of the most unique mid-range smartphones of 2024, if not one of the best. The OnePlus Nord 4 and Nothing Phone 2a, for instance, have it beaten for performance and battery life. The HMD Skyline also offers limited software support vs many rivals. However, you do also get wireless charging - quite rare from a phone at this budget-friendly price. And the repairability factor will appeal to those with some tech abilities.
You’ve got a 108MP camera slapped on the back of the HMD Skyline, plus ultra-wide and telephoto shooters. That zoom lens is good for grabbing a portrait camera pic, while the 4k video chops are respectable for a mid-range phone too.
The HMD Skyline also gets points from old gits like Chris because it looks like a Lumia. Remember those? Nokia bangers from a decade or so ago. Back when phones were phones, and this bald guy actually had a proper job reviewing them.
