Strasburg Railroad: The Days of Thunder (BCP Memories)

Like us on Facebook! In August of 2019, ex-Norfolk & Western 4-8-4 “J Class” #611 ventured north to the rolling hills of Lancaster County for an extended visit at the Strasburg Railroad. A historic moment for the Queen of Steam, this was her first visit to the Road to Paradise, where she was also joined by the railroad’s own ex-Norfolk & Western 4-8-0 “M Class” #475, dubbed as “The Great Reunion”. In early October, Lerro Photography organized a series of photo charters that saw the 611 and the 475 dressed in their in-service appearances, as well as the 475 dressed up as sister engine #382, one of the engines that were regular subjects for famed railroad photographer O. Winston Link. This video includes extra scenes from the Lerro Photography charter, plus scenes where Strasburg’s ex-Great Western 2-10-0 “Decapod” #90 performed stellar runbys during the regular trips on the same day.
