Presenting an advance stream of Darkgem’s haunting new album, Luminous Hag, releasing on tape through Realm and Ritual this Friday, 7th May.
Recorded through the harsh, lonely winters the began this year, the album channels those chill bitter feelings into raw second wave inspired black metal, that recalls the medieval atmosphere and commanding voice of Satyricon, and the blizzard winds of Immortal and Emperor. An otherworldliness cloaks these five tracks, and the song titles themselves hint at the secrets of the occult within.
In the words of Darkgem themselves, “the intent of the project is to explore a plethora of fucked up and beautiful sonic possibilities that black metal and related genres have to offer while remaining unified through easily digestible song structures, and (most likely) vocal centric productions.”
