A few short clips of the Cat Island Boa (Epicrates striatus ailurus) taken in 2012.
All of the Bahamian Boas are completely harmless snakes, regardless of some of the exaggerated stories that exist about them around the islands. They are excellent rodent catchers, and play an important role in keeping the pest populations in check throughout the Bahamas.
As nocturnal hunters, the Bahamian boas are rarely seen during the day. They are non-venomous, and extremely docile snakes.
