Staying with them at their Milan estate, a young, enigmatic man (Terence Stamp) has a profound effect individually on the diverse members of a bourgeois family: the industrialist father Paolo (Massimo Girotti), his wife Lucia (Silvana Mangano), their two young adult offspring Odetta (Anne Wiazemsky) and Pietro (Andrés José Cruz), and their housekeeper Emilia (Laura Betti). When the young man leaves as unexpectedly as he came, the five will have to deal with their individual lives in light of his absence from it, each who has a different coping mechanism depending on the issue with with he helped them.
This score is completely schizophrenic, but superbly entertaining, and if you can get your head around a score which is a combination of super-challenging 20th century classical scoring with light pop beats and songs, then this might beone worth checking out. “L’ultima corrida“ is a piece that reminds of a western movie by Sergio Leone. It blends more Euro-pop beats with mariachi trumpets, electric guitars, and castanets, creating a fascinating and entertaining blend of styles.
