Zelienople is a trio (Matt Christensen, Brian Harding and Mike Weis) from Chicago that formed in 1998, releasing their first split 7” in 2000. Since then they have released twelve full-length albums on various international labels including Type, Root Strata, Immune and their latest on Miasmah. Zelienople’s music has been described as Ambient-Pop, Space-Rock, Post-Rock, Slow-Core, Avant-Rock, Doom-Pop, Free-Folk, Dark-Americana or any other hyphenated tags that fail to pin them down, but at this point in their long and varied career of creating music they are pretty much a genre unto themselves.
This performance will be both a record release celebration of Hold You Up (nearly two years delayed due to Covid!) and a celebration of a milestone of sorts - the 20 year anniversary of our debut album, Pajama Avenue. We will be performing music from both albums.
Zelienople is:
Matt Christensen - vocals and guitar
Brian Harding - bass and reeds
Mike Weis - percussion
with PM Tummala - keyboards and synthesizers
Pan American is Mark Nelson, a producer, guitar player and songwriter
living in Evanston IL.
