Certainly Hope So

Okay so this is one I wrote shortly after a surf accident which left me blind in one eye. During the months that followed I had a lot of time to reflect on the aftermath of all the traumas we face as living, breathing, mortal animals. About six months later I went on a solo meander via bicycle up the coast with the intention of processing some unsettled and unsettling grief. It was a beautiful evening. I found a stick that looked like a duck with a crazy eye. Ultimately I got bored of my thoughts and took some video. This is some of that video. Of course the waves were firing, which I interpreted as a rally cry to get back out there, which I have started doing lately. On the way home the next day I took the long way and rode through a severe burn area caused by the August 2020 CZU fires north of Santa Cruz. Seeing all the life coming back, trees stumpsprouting, flowers blooming, people rebuilding homes, and a clear, clean creek flowing through it all just really hit home given my situatio
