As the first step in the realization of the NICA heavy ion program, Baryonic Matter at Nuclotron (BM@N) — a new fixed-target experiment.
This experiment will investigate the equation-of-state (EOS) of dense nuclear matter which plays a central role for the dynamics of core collapse supernovae and for the stability of neutron stars.
BM@N experiment with heavy ions starts in 2017.
