Japanese prodigies conquer trickline | Trickline Worldcup 2024 Stuttgart Kessel Festival

From May 31 to June 1, 2024, the Trickline World Championship took place as part of the Kesselfestival at the Cannstatter Wasen in Stuttgart. In partnership with the Sports Office Stuttgart, LottoBW, and the Kesselfestival, athletes from 12 nations gathered to showcase their skills on the 5 cm narrow and 30 m long slackline. 🌍 Event Details 🌍 Date: May 31-01 June Location: Kesselfestival, Stuttgart Athletes impressed the audience with acrobatic maneuvers up to 5 m high. Triple somersaults and screws were among the highlights of the competition. Despite adverse weather conditions, the event started on Friday with the Women’s World Championship. The Japanese athletes dominated, with Mao Takebe defending her title and Mirai Kuwabara thrilling the audience with a double forward somersault from the chest. Results Women: 1. Mao Takebe, Japan 2. Mirai Kuwabara, Japan 3. Akari Sasaki, Japan 4. Giada Regoli, Italy On Saturday, the men showcased spectacular combinations at dizzying heights. Local hero Benni Schmid had to withdraw from the competition due to injury, while former world champion Abraham Hernandez made an impressive comeback after a serious injury. “Abraham is a role model and inspiration for all of us. He has shaped the sport for us, and we salute his performance and dedication to this great sport,“ commented Benni Schmid. In this quarterfinal, Abraham managed a triple forward somersault followed by a backward somersault and a two-and-a-half screw. His opponent and later third-placed Eishin Hayashi from Japan burst into tears after the announcement. Results Men: 1. Rikuto Nakamura, Japan 2. Shin Kikukawa, Japan 3. Eishin Hayashi, Japan 4. Alisson Ferreira, Brazil A special highlight was the introduction of the GIBOARD CUP, where participants impressed with slackline tricks on a balance board. Mateus Vital from Brazil won this competition with a spectacular 540 “feet to feet“ trick. “The GIBOARD is incredibly fun! It trains your balance and combines tricks and moves from slacklining, skateboarding, along with dance elements into something completely new,“ commented Mateus Vital. Results Men: 1.
