Vergil Interrupts Your Dante Status

Vergil and Dante were on their way back to the dorms after a long day at school. They were walking down a dark alley, when they heard some muffled screams coming from around the corner. Vergil was in front of Dante, so he turned his head slightly toward him as he listened for the sounds of approaching people. “What’s that?“ asked Vergil. “Do you think someone is hurt or something?“ Dante nodded, but didn’t say anything else. He could tell by the sound and direction of the screams that someone was being attacked by a monster. The two boys crept closer to see what was going on. When they reached the end of the alleyway, they saw several men standing over an unconscious woman lying on the ground. She had been stripped naked, and her hands and feet were bound with rope. One man walked up to the woman, and pulled out a knife. He stood behind her, and began cutting off chunks of flesh from her body. As he did this, another man watched him, laughing hysterically. Then it hit Vergil like a ton of bricks, and he grabbed Dante by the shoulders. “That’s Penelope!“ screamed Vergil. “She works at the diner next door to our dorm! Why are these bastards doing this?“ Dante looked around frantically, as if looking for any kind of help. But there was no one in sight; the only thing that was close enough to hear them was a group of thugs watching and laughing. The two boys rushed into the alleyway, and saw the other men running away from them. One of the men, who had just finished eating part of her face, looked over his shoulder and noticed the two boys had caught up to him. He raised his knife for the kill shot. Vergil was about to charge the man, but stopped when the man closed the distance between them. His eyes widened in fear, and he lost all control over his legs. He fell to the ground, and rolled onto his stomach as the man approached. The man kicked him in the ribs repeatedly, until Vergil was begging for mercy. The man then took out a switchblade from his pocket and stabbed Vergil multiple times, killing him instantly.
