Giuseppe Taccani (1882-1959) was born in Milan and studied with the celebrated baritone Lelio Casini. His debut came about in February of 1904 at the Sociale di Lecco as des Grieux in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut. He followed this with Fra Diavolo at Lugano in April. Within a year, he was appearing at Genoa’s Politeama Genovese and Bologna’s Politeama Azeglio in Zazà, Cavalleria Rusticana, La Forza del Destino and Germania.
