Rival mobs pelt each other with stones in fresh clashes in Plymouth leaving cops injured
THREE cops have been injured after far-right supporters and a rival mob pelted each other with stones and lumps of concrete in fresh clashes in Plymouth.
Several protesters also suffered injuries, bins were set on fire and fireworks were hurled as the opposing groups collided in the seaside city.
Devon and Cornwall Police said that “arrests are ongoing“ in the area and confirmed that officers have been met with a “level of violence“ during demonstrations.
Officers with riot shields stood firm and have been seen shoving back protesters from both sides who provoked them.
One male officer was pulled off the line with an apparent injury while several protesters needed treatment for head wounds.
Police dog handlers attempted to separate the factions as tensions continued to grow and the rival mobs pushed closer to each other - but it did not stop bottles, bricks and fireworks hurled into crowds.
