The #Gawar of Afghanistan are now officially a Gawar ‘nation’
In our school grade tenth book we had to read a lesson “Taxila’. At the end of this lesson the ‘short’ questions contained one question: what is Taxila famous for? The answer we used to rote was ‘Taxila is famous for old relics.’ We were never taught the details of the archeological and civilizational significance of Taxila, nor were we taught what these relics were about and what Gandhara was.
I relate this analogy with a general question and its immediate answer. When you ask a common Pakistani what he knows about #Afghanistan and what is it famous for, the instant answer will be ‘Taliban, extremism and Pathans’. Same is true for India for which an ordinary Pakistani, mostly the youth, will answer #Hindus, nothing more.
Afghanistan is not all #Pashto speaking. More than 30 languages are spoken in Afghanistan. Both #Dari and #Pashto are the official languages whereas other languages such as #Uzbek, #Turkmen, #Balochi, #Pashai, #Nuristani and #Pamirian et al are also national languages and are used in
