This classical honkyoku is entitled Tsuru no Sugomori, “Nesting of the Cranes.“ You can hear throughout the piece a shakuhachi technique called tamane, which is similar to flutter tonguing, but rather uses the throat to create the crane-like sound. It was recorded in one take on a 1.8 Chikushin shakuhachi.
