So, back in ’97, I teamed up with Ray Stevens to create the “God is God“ video. I licensed “The Color of Pomegranates,“ a movie by Sergei Parajanov. One of Martin Scorsese’s top ten films.
I got together with Nick Burton to write this track. An amazing percussionist and he’s also the eyes behind the designs for some of Juno Reactor’s singles and album covers, like “Bible of Dreams“ and “Labyrinth.“ We probably finished it around the first album “Transmissions,“ but it just didn’t fit with the themes of those early albums. It wasn’t until “Bible of Dreams“ that Greg Hunter, a great engineer and producer, mixed it.
A funny thing is that when God Is God dropped, it blew up on MTV’s late-night dance shows and caught the eye of Alice Cooper and Mariah Carey. Mariah Carey’s husband, Tommy Mattola CEO of Sony Records, even hit up my manager, Mick Paterson, wanting me to direct Mariah’s next video. I said no. First
