Bio By She Rox All Female Bands: As the grunge movement of the early 1990’s began to decline in popularity by the late 1990’s, the music scene in America was discombobulated and a bit mundane, more alternative melodic rock was in fashion, however Sacramento,California’s, The Skirts, thought up by original members vocalist Lynn Braden Mayugba, and drummer Wendy Powell, thought it would be a fun idea to start an all female rock band, along with bassist Gerri Ranta (White) and guitarists Sunita Bhardwaj and Karen Simmons, would release their debut Ep in 1999 titled “Look Up“, praised for it’s catchy pop power punk that the band themselves have even described as somewhat Go-Go’s-esque, the Skirts however were far more guitar driven punchy power pop. By 2001 the band would release their full length debut “Take Off“ , however bassist Gerri Ranta (White), was now on guitar, and bassist Gitti Lidner was brought in as well as guitarist Cory Tozer (Farwell) to replace Sunita and Karen.
