Jonathan Michael Richman (born May 16, 1951) is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. In 1970 he founded the Modern Lovers, an influential proto-punk band. He recorded with his band a TopPop TV special on 16 September 1978. Among the songs he recorded was his no. 1 hit ’Egyptian Reggae’.
