For many people, the first thing that comes to mind when asked about Heinrich Heine is “Die Lore--Ley“. “Das Lied von der Loreley“ is probably the best know poem by Heine, besides “Deutschland - Ein Wintermärchen“. It is about the mythical figure of the Loreley by Clemens Brentano, a mermaid who bewitches seamen on their way along the Rhine with her songs and drowns them in the river. According to the legend, she is sitting on the Loreley Rock near Sankt Goarshausen in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. This Rock is still an exciting sight when visiting the Rhine and attracts many tourists all over the world. Rhyming scheme: Cross-Rhyme, ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL Text:
