Hutter created these films during the late 1940s and early 1950s, and intended to present them to guests at his hotel / resort called Chateau Hutter at Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin (thus, the credit “Chateau Hutter Films“). Hutter photographed, hosted, narrated, and directed the film. Here, he travels across Canada from the Lake of the Woods in Western Ontario and westward to the Canadian Rockies, depicting Canadian cities, agriculture, and national parks. Hutter’s personal history was somewhat tragic; after a dispute with the local Door County Chamber of Commerce, his hotel was omitted from their advertising and eventually forced to close. It remains abandoned to the present day. Credits (00:09). ”Westward to the Majestic Canadian Rockies” title banner (00:25). Host John Hutter introduces this travelogue (00:30).
